Johan Fredrik Knudsen / Tor Ola Svennevig
When ship carpenter Johan Fredrik Knudsen from Fredrikstad died in 1948, he left behind his tattoo equipment and a large collection of hand-drawn motifs. The material, which is completely unique and has not been shown publicly since Knudsen worked as a tattoo artist, forms the main basis for this publication. With this, a new chapter is added to Norwegian maritime and tattoo history.
The book is bilingual with Norwegian and English text. English translation by Siân Mackie.
